The influence of direct current and alternating current on lamps

     DC and AC have different effects on lamps. Direct current is current that flows in only one direction, while alternating current is current that flows back and forth in one direction.

     For lamps, the impact of DC and AC is mainly reflected in the brightness and life of the bulb. In general, light bulbs are more likely to flicker and have a shorter life when exposed to DC. This is mainly because under direct current, the filament oxidizes faster than under alternating current, resulting in shortened bulb life. On the other hand, the frequency of alternating current can reduce the flicker of light bulbs, so it is more effective than direct current.

     Therefore, if the light fixture is designed to operate on AC power, plugging in DC power may result in reduced brightness and shortened life of the bulb. Likewise, if the fixture is designed to run on DC power, plugging it into AC power may also affect the bulb's performance.

     In terms of energy transmission, alternating current is more efficient over long distances because the voltage can be changed through transformers, thereby reducing energy losses.

     DC power has relatively high losses when transmitting energy, so it is more suitable for short-distance, small-scale energy transmission. In terms of energy storage, DC power is compatible with the output of many renewable energy systems (e.g., solar cells, wind turbines) because these systems typically produce DC power.

     Therefore, DC, as a form of energy storage, is easier to use in conjunction with these renewable energy systems.

     AC power needs to be converted to DC power via an inverter to be compatible with these systems, adding to the complexity and cost of energy conversion.

     Therefore, the impact of DC and AC on lamps, energy transmission and energy storage is not only reflected in the brightness and life of the bulb, but also in the efficiency and convenience of energy transmission and storage.
